Rustam Allahverdiyev: We Will Follow Any Decision

Rustam Allahverdiyev, head of the Media, Marketing and Public Relations Department of Neftchi PFC, stated the club's official position at a press conference after the test match with Gabala. The spokesman said that today the media reported that PFC "Neftchi" wanted to suspend the championship:

"We declare that Neftchi supports the continuation of the championship. Indeed, the current situation in the tournament schedule shows that the principles of sport can be violated with the suspension of the season. However, the application of strict quarantine regimes has a serious impact on the training process of teams, which we, as a club, oppose. We would like the championship to continue if they allow the team to go through the normal training process, if there are no problems in the organization of trainings and games. Otherwise, it is impossible for our team to be ready for the championship. We are in favor of continuing the championship, but if it continues, we consider it expedient to suspend the championship. Because the risks are high, we all know the extent of the coronavirus pandemic in the country. Team members, players, club representatives are also people, they also have families. You journalists will inevitably come into contact with certain people during the games and you will face this danger. We are all in such danger. However, we would like to emphasize once again that the decision on whether to continue the championship is made by the AFFA Executive Committee. As Neftchi PFC, we are ready for any decision. We want to continue, but for this the team must be able to prepare for the championship. There is unofficial information that a strict quarantine will be announced for two more days next week. If the championship resumes on June 21. How will the team prepare for the official match? What will happen if it continues in the next period? There must be a decision in this regard. It is our duty as a club to fulfill the decision. But in such a situation, it is impossible for the team to prepare for the championship.

Rustam Allahverdiyev also commented on the media reports that Neftchi has set some conditions for Karabakh: "We have not made an official or unofficial statement on the declaration of Qarabagh as champions." We will normally meet the decision made in accordance with the regulations. We would like to inform you that if Qarabagh, which is currently ranked first in the tournament table, is declared a champion, Neftchi will congratulate its opponent, and if it has not been declared a champion, but has a chance to compete in the Champions League, we will congratulate and wish success. Of course, Neftchi's protest against the announcement of Qarabagh as the champion will not change anything. We reiterate that the news that we have set any conditions does not reflect the truth."
