Mini-football friendly match between “Neftçi” and oil workers was held on the occasion of Oilers' Day and the 85th anniversary of “Neftçi” Professional Football Сlub in Neft Daşları on October 9, 2022.

SOCAR president Rovshan Najaf, BP regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey Gary Jones and a delegation of officials visited Neft Daşları to participate in the match.

First, the delegation visited the monument of the national leader of our people, Heydar Aliyev, erected in Neft Daşları, and laid flowers in front of it. Then, the delegation got acquainted with the museum named after the Great Leader, and was given detailed information about historical photos reflecting the attention and care of the national leader to the development of the oil industry, as well as books dedicated to social, political and statehood activities. Gary Jones wrote his heartfelt words in the museum's memorial book.

Within the framework of the visit, the monument of prominent oilman-geologist Aghagurban Aliyev, the monument complex erected in memory of the oilmen who died at sea while conquering the Caspian Sea were visited. The delegation visited the memorial complex of the oilmen who heroically died for the territorial integrity of our country, gratefully remembered the dear memory of our martyrs, and then got acquainted with the composition erected on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of “Neft Daşları”.

Before the mini-football friendly match between “Neftçi” PFC and oil workers, the National Anthem of the Republic of Azerbaijan was played and the dear memory of our martyrs who heroically sacrificed their lives for the Motherland was commemorated with a minute's silence. Players gave balls, oil workers gave helmets to each other. Football match, in which Rovshan Najaf and Gary Jones also participated, took place in the conditions of an interesting sports competition. Match ended with a score of 5:5.

In the end, head coach of Neft Daşları team - Shirinagha Alizada, an experienced oilman who worked for Neft Daşları for 42 years and reached retirement age, was awarded with a letter of appreciation on behalf of "Azneft" Production Union. President of SOCAR Rovshan Najaf presented the letter of appreciation . Also, on behalf of "Neftçi" PFC, jersey signed by the players as a memorial souvenir for Neft Daşları.
