Neftchi ended the winter break earlier than other teams, as in January the champions of the CIS and Baltic countries will take part in the traditional "Unity Cup" tournament. Svanidze and Udenkvor, as well as Yadullayev , who could not adapt to our lineup, left the team. Instead, young men in military service - Elnur Allahverdiyev and Rashad Sadigov - returned to the team. On the eve of the visit to Moscow, the most successful transfers of recent times - Georgian Georgi Adamiya, Ruslan Gafitulin and Croatian Darko Chordash were signed. Issa Nikiema was taken to Moscow for inspection and returned without approval.                

Neftchi, which started the second round with a draw with Baku , entered the group of leaders with a series of victories , which was aggravated by Inter , and then unexpected draws with MKT-Araz at home. In the middle of the second round , a contract was signed with Slovenian striker Tomislav Mishura and Georgian Valeri Abramidze to strengthen the team .
