It is the fourth anniversary of the victories of the Azerbaijani Army over the occupying Armenian armed forces on the frontline in early April 2016. On the night of April 1-2, 2016, all our frontline positions were intensively fired by Armenian armed forces with large-caliber weapons, mortars, grenades and artillery.

At the same time, a number of civilian settlements close to the line of contact came under enemy fire. Armenian armed forces fired on our positions and settlements near the line of contact using ammunition prohibited by international conventions.

In order to prevent the expansion of the military activity of the opposite side, to prevent its activities, the command of our Armed Forces assessed the operational conditions and decided to take immediate action.

During the fighting, which lasted from 2 to 5 April, the heights around the village of Talysh, which could pose a threat to the Goranboy region and the city of Naftalan, were completely cleared of enemy forces. In order to protect the city of Horadiz from the threat of the enemy, the strategically important "Lalatapa" height, located in the direction of Fizuli region, which allows to control a large area, also came under the control of our units. At the same time, the command post of the Armenian Armed Forces operating in the occupied territories was destroyed by the exact response fire of our troops, as a result of which high-ranking enemy officers - colonels and generals - were destroyed.

During the four-day battles, the Azerbaijani Army liberated 2,000 hectares from occupation. It is possible to control a large part of Nagorno-Karabakh from the strategic heights cleared by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

Although the Armenians announced that they had lost about 100 servicemen in the fighting on the frontline in early April, there were reports that the real number of dead and wounded was more than 300 by the enemy. The Azerbaijani Army also suffered casualties in the clashes, killing 94 servicemen. May God have mercy on our martyrs!

During the fighting between the Azerbaijani and Armenian Armed Forces, various documents, communications, equipment, weapons, night-vision devices, vehicles and various equipment belonging to the Armenian servicemen were seized by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces.

Over the past period, repair work has been carried out in the liberated areas, including the village of Jojug Marjanli in the Jabrayil region, where the threat of the enemy was removed with the April victory. A new settlement was built there and people displaced from their ancestral homes returned.

On April 19, 2016, by the relevant orders of the President of Azerbaijan, Supreme Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev, 3 members of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces were awarded the "National Hero of Azerbaijan", 7 members of the "Azerbaijan Flag" order, 1 member of the 2nd degree and 4 members of the 3rd He was awarded the Order for Service to the Fatherland, 19 members were awarded the Medal for the Fatherland, 43 members were awarded the Medal for Courage, 45 members were awarded the Military Service Medal, and 2 members were awarded the highest military rank of Major General.
