Profile: Dinamo Tbilisi
Georgian club Dinamo (Tbilisi), Neftchi's opponent in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, was established in 1925. The president of the club is Roman Pipiya, the head coach is Kakhaber Tskhadadze, who previously coached Baku "Inter". The representative of the capital plays home games at the Boris Paychadze Dinamo Arena stadium with a capacity of 55,000 spectators.
Having repeatedly met Neftchi in the USSR championships, Dinamo (Tbilisi) won the USSR Championship in 1964 and 1978, the USSR Cup in 1976 and 1979, and the UEFA Cup in 1981.
Dinamo is the most titled club in Georgia. The team has won the national championship 18 times, the cup 13 times and the Super Cup 8 times. Tbilisi won the Commonwealth Cup in 2004. After Georgia's independence, Dinamo's biggest success in the European Cups was in the group stage of the UEFA Cup in the 2004/2005 season.
In addition to Georgian players, Dinamo's current squad includes legionnaires from France, Spain, the Netherlands, Serbia, Slovakia and Guinea.
So far, Neftchi has played 52 matches against Dinamo in the strongest group of the USSR championship. The "whites", who won 11 of them, lost 25 times. 16 matches ended in a draw. Neftchi conceded 48 goals and conceded 75 goals.
In the USSR Cup, the sides met three times. In 1937, Dinamo won 3: 0 in the 1/16 finals and 1: 0 in the semi-finals in 1970. In 1967, Neftchi won the 1/8 final with a score of 3: 1 and won the stage.
The last meeting between these teams was held in 2004. The winner of the friendly match in Tbilisi was not determined - 2: 2. Emin Guliyev (23rd minute) and Vidadi Rzayev (85th minute) from Neftchi, Salukvadze (55th minute) and Akalaya (60th minute) from Dinamo differed.
