Vali Gasimov was born on October 4, 1968 in the city of Ganja. In 1996, he graduated from Baku State University, Faculty of Law. He started his professional football career at Kharkov's Mayak club (1983-1985). After playing for Metallist (1985-1987), another club in the same city, he transferred to Neftchi. In 1987-1991, he defended the honor of our home team, scoring 61 goals in 165 games. In 1990, he was named the best football player in Azerbaijan. Vali Gasimov, who played for Spartak Moscow and Dinamo Moscow in 1992-1993, played for Real Betis (1993-1996), Albacete (1996-1997), Esixa (1997-1998) and Portugal. He played for Vitoria Setubal (1998-2000) and Importal (2000-2002). Gasimov, the top scorer of the first Russian championship in 1992, played 14 games for our national team in 1994-1998.

He was an assistant head coach of the Azerbaijani national team (2011), head coach of the U-19 national team (2011-2012), coach of the U-17 national team (2006-2007). Vali Gasimov, who was the sports director of Neftchi PFC from 2008 to 2009, was the AFFA selector in 2010. He worked as a coach for Sevilla's U-13 team (2005-2006) and Gelves Sevilla (2007-2008), and as a coordinator for Spartak (2013-2015).

Returning to Neftchi in 2015, the specialist first served as sports director (2015-2016) and then head coach (2016).
