Agasalim Mirjavadov was born on October 22, 1947 in Baku. Like many children of that time, Agasalim, who played in the streets all day, took his first step into big football after one of the games in the school tournament. In the early 1960s, Spartak coach Konstantin Kuznetsov invited four people, including Mirjavadov, to his team. This opens the way for him to Neftchi. In 1965, the young player, who was invited to the "whites and blacks" by head coach Vasily Sokolov, began to play first as a substitute and then in the main team. On April 7, 1967, he made his debut for Neftchi in a match against Chernemorets (3: 1). However, a serious leg injury in one of the training sessions in August of that year was a big blow to his career. Mirjavadov, who remained in Neftchi until 1971, appeared in a total of 24 games for the main team. Then he had to end his football career, playing for Dynamo Kirovabad for a year.

Agasalim Mirjavadov has been working for Spartak for several years after graduating from the State Institute of Physical Culture. After graduating from the Higher Coaching School in Moscow in 1982, he began working at Neftchi. He worked as a coach in 1983-1985 and 1987, and as a head coach in 1987-1988 and 1989. "Neftchi" took the ninth place under his leadership in 1987 and returned to the top team - the best result since 1977.

Mirjavadov returned to Neftchi in 2004. In 2005, he became the flagship champion of Azerbaijan. Under his leadership, the "whites and blacks" signed a historic victory over the Armenian club "Punik" in the quarterfinals of the "Unity Cup" on January 19 of the same year. Although Neftchi lost to Lokomotiv Moscow in the final, they reached the final of this tournament in 2006 and won the Commonwealth Cup for the first time in the history of Azerbaijani football, defeating Lithuanian Kaunas 4: 2 in the decisive match.

Mirjavadov, who coached the Azerbaijani national team in 1994-1995, won the Azerbaijani championship with "Karabakh" (1993), "Shamkir" (2000, 2001) and "Khazar Lankaran" (2007), "Karabakh" (1993) and "Khazar Lankaran". (2007, 2008) won the national cup, and with "Khazar Lankaran" (2008) won the "Unity Cup".

Dedicated to the slogan "Where is Mirjavadov, the championship is there", the specialist was awarded the honorary title of "Honored Coach of Azerbaijan" in 1988, the Order of Glory in 2008 and a personal scholarship of the President in December 2018.
